Luminous Film Screening and Panel Discussion
Infuse is proud to announce an enriching evening of film and dialogue with the screening of the critically acclaimed film Luminous. This event, taking place on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the MSA Annex Festival Grounds, will delve into the intersection of science and faith, featuring a moderated Question-and-Answer session that explores how these realms can both complement and challenge each other.
About the Film:
When astronomer, Dr. Larry Molnar, and a small team of students stumble across a strange star, they embark on a dramatic journey of scientific discovery, which brings the unlikely team into the international spotlight. But others in the astronomical community are skeptical, and Larry’s professional reputation hangs in the balance. In production since 2014, Luminous, a feature documentary by award-winning filmmaker Sam Smartt (Wagonmasters), follows Larry’s journey to test his unprecedented prediction, knowing that its success or failure will unfold squarely in the international spotlight.
Following the screening, a lively community dialogue will be held, featuring a panel that includes the film’s subject, astronomer Larry Molnar, and award-winning filmmaker, Sam Smartt. The discussion will be moderated to explore how faith can serve as a foundation for groundbreaking scientific discoveries and how the two fields can sometimes seem at odds.
